Gem City Jazz Band to Play Spring Concert

The Gem City Jazz Band — formerly part of the East Erie Turners Concert Band — will play its spring concert on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at St. John's Parish Center, next to St. John's Lutheran Church at 23rd and Peach streets.

Director Tim McKinney will direct a program with such jazz selections as "Deacon Blues," "Tiger of San Pedro," and "Groovin' Hard," as well as the standards "Mood Indigo, "April in Paris," "New York, New York," and "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square."

Featured vocalist Duane Kraus will perform two songs during the concert, which is free, though donations will be accepted. Gem City features performers on brass, woodwind, and percussion.
